A floor drain on your sheet is counted as your floor drain.
The fixture count is the number the rest of a plumbing bid is built on, so it’s counted against the sheet’s own legend when there is one, read before any symbol. Each detection boxes the fixture symbol itself, never the tag beside it, and never a legend entry, a schedule row, a note or the title block. Twelve kinds: toilet, sink, double sink, bathtub, shower, tub/shower combo, water heater, washer, dishwasher, floor drain, hose bib, other.
It refuses the wrong sheet before it spends a credit.
Fixture detection runs on floor plans. Point it at a site plan, a riser or a detail sheet and it stops and asks Run anyway? before a credit is used. A page that comes back as ten or more of one fixture with nothing architectural around them is flagged for review, not dropped. That guard exists because a landscape plan once came back as 27 sinks.
Fixture prices come from your book, or arrive tagged as the AI’s.
Counts land in the takeoff with a Plumbing facet in Style Filter, and Create estimate has a Plumbing preset with a Plumbing (detected) row. There’s no built-in fixture catalog. Your price book prices a fixture when it has one, or an assembly you author, which counts as Plumbing. Otherwise the AI looks up a price for the job site’s market and the line carries an AI tag until you confirm it with your supplier. A fixture nothing can price stays at zero and is named before the estimate goes out. The elemental export carries them on their own row (CIQS C11, UniFormat D2010).

Does it read my plumbing sheets?
No. It counts fixtures on sheets classified as floor plans, and reads the plumbing legend there if the sheet has one. A P-series sheet, a riser or a site plan is classified as something else, so detection stops and asks Run anyway? before a credit is spent. You can override it; the page then carries the same flags as any other.
What does “on demand” mean, and what does it cost?
It doesn’t run at upload. You press Plumbing Fixtures in Auto Measure, or include it in Detect all, and that run draws one on-demand detection from your allowance, the same as any other trade’s run; a sheet already processed at upload isn’t counted twice. The free trial includes 15 upload pages and its own allowance of on-demand runs, no card.
Are the fixture lines priced?
Not from a catalog; there isn’t one for fixtures. Your price book prices a fixture when it has one. Otherwise the AI looks up a price for the job site’s market and tags the line as an AI estimate to confirm with your supplier. A fixture nothing can price stays at zero, and before the estimate goes out Bildrix names every such line and asks.
Does it measure pipe?
No. No pipe runs, no lengths by size, no fittings, no risers, no DWV, vent or supply, no fixture units, no rough-in counts. If pipe is the takeoff you need, read the Bobyard comparison: their plumbing model measures it and ours doesn’t.
What if it boxes something that isn’t a fixture?
It’s flagged, or you reject it. Detections it isn’t sure of go to the review queue, where A accepts and X rejects, and reshaping a box marks it verified. A run of identical fixtures on a page with nothing else on it is flagged as a set, never dropped. What it misses, you count by hand in the same takeoff.
